Municipal elections were expected to be held in the Palestinian Territories on 22 October 2011,[1] postponed from 9 July 2011.[2] However, in August, they were postponed indefinitely.[3] The Gaza Strip was never going to participate in the voting due to the intra-Palestinian conflict between Fatah and Hamas following the Gaza War.

Election date

In a reaction to the 2010–2011 Arab world protests, the Palestinian National Authority announced on 1 February 2011 that municipal elections would be held "as soon as possible".[4] Then, on February 8, Palestinian press announced the date of July 9 for the elections to take place on.

They are not expected to be held in the forseeable future.
